Moabi Tribal Yin Belly Dance

Moabi is born in Lisbon in 1980.

From an early age Moabi has an interest in the
meaning of life, diving into a search about the purpose of existence. This search has been taking her on a journey between creativity and spirituality.

Dance allows Moabi to obtain self knowledge and to enter in contact with her true being. Dance is the food of her soul. Dance is the way Moabi expresses herself in the world.

Moabi starts dancing at the age of seven, learning the first steps with one of the most rigid and disciplinary of Dance forms: Ballet. In the course of her life she has been practicing and trying numerous other techniques: Contemporary dance, Cunningham, Afro-Brazilian Dance, 5 rhythms, Improvisation and Belly Dance. It is to the practice and study of this two last forms that Moabi dedicated the last years.

It was in 2004 that Moabi discovered the form of dance that would change her life forever: Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. In the beginning Moabi started learning Belly Dance in a Belgian School with Hayat, a Brazilian Belly dancer of Egyptian style. Soon after Moabi discovers Fusion Belly Dance with her next teacher Sarah Shebaro ((http://www.sarahchebaro.be/) and Tribal fusion with videos from Rachel Brice and Ariella, a style that Moabi started to dedicate intensively.

Tribal fusion Belly Dance is the technique that Moabi was looking for: a dance that allows body conscientiousness, development at an energy level, and it is accessible to everyone interested in this dance independently of structure or age. It is a dance that works the chakras and develops essentially feminine energy, a calm and pacific energy.

Moabi gives her first workshops of Belly Dance in the cultural and communal project “De Bereklauw”, situated in Herent, Belgium, Whereafter, in 2008 appeares the opportunity of giving different workshops on Tribal Fusion Belly Dance in the Yoga and Music Cultural Centre of Rishikesh, India.

In 2009 Moabi develops Tribal Yin Belly Dance. This Dance-Ritual has base elements of Tribal Fusion Belly Dance, but has as main goal to get in touch with the energy of the dance.

Hand in hand with Tribal Yin Belly dance comes Yoga. Yoga gives a strong base for the practice of Tribal Yin Belly Dance. This ancient technique is studying the Human Being in its holistic integrity, it is very effective in knowledge and balance of the body and in the control of body and mind.

In 2003 Moabi starts practicing Kundalini Yoga under orientation of Kumar Swami, an ayurvedic doctor. At the end of 2008 Moabi goes to Rishikesh, India, to study the yoga postures (asanas) intensively. There she has the opportunity to study with teachers such as Surinder (Hatha Yoga), Suryans (Iyengar yoga) and Usha (Iyengar Yoga). http://www.iyengaryoga.in/usha_devi.htm.

In 2006 Moabi takes a course in Reflexology, an other complementary technique in the study of Human Beings. This technique uses pressure in some energetic points in the feet, that are connected to the different organs in the body, to reestablish well-being, health and relaxation.

It is since 2007, after a Vipassana Meditation course, that Moabi gives herself to the practice of meditation, one of the techniques enjoying a reputation of being most efficient in obtaining Self-Knowledge, relaxation and spiritual development.
